Visiting Utrecht? In this article some useful tips for the wine / food enthusiast.
30-10-2018Wine Café Lefevbre - Neude 2
At the beginning of October we visited Utrecht and our first stop was Wijncafé Lefevbre. With a lovely terrace on the doorstep and great choices in wines by the glass, a great place to chill out on the large square after a day of shopping.
Besides a large selection of wines, you can also go for a variety of tasty snacks such as oysters, a mix of croquettes and flammkuchen. Keep an eye on their website as they regularly organize nice tastings in their wine cellar.
Talud9 - Donkere Gaard 9

Another nice coffee and wine bar is Talud9 located between the Domplein and the Oude Gracht in the former Gardenhouse of Bischop (and Pope) Adrianus from around 1500. In the small but cozy wine bar you can choose from a large selection of coffees and more than 50 wines on glass. There is no real wine list as the waiter advises you on the basis of taste a suitable wine. You can also go there for a good breakfast, tasty lunch or snacks for with the wine.
Verde Marrone - Donkere Gaard 2
Cross the street at a slight angle and you are in Utrecht's newest wine bar. From the same owner of Talud9 but with a different (Italian) appearance. Of course again a nice (and other) selection of wines that you can combine with a large choice of bruschetta's. There is room for about 50 guests. And from the garden there is a view of the Dom.
Restaurant Vis en Meer - Drieharingstraat 4
Located on the Drieharingstraat, can it be more appropriate?
The converted restaurant has an atmosphere that makes you feel like you are in old Marseille. A nice large space but still cozy with a nice long bar, open kitchen and atmospheric lighting. As the name suggests, there is a nice selection of fish dishes but also for the non-fish lover there is plenty of choice. What is also important for the wine lover like me is that on the wine list you can find a nice selection of wines that you can combine well with the dishes on the menu. Definitely worth to eat here.
