Savor the Flavors of Domaine Tariquet Wines: A Recap of the Press Lunch Hosted by PitchPR and Walraven Sax
07-03-2023Domaine Tariquet Press Lunch, March 7, 2023
PitchPR and Walraven Sax hosted a press lunch on March 7, 2023, in Amsterdam's Pesca restaurant to showcase Domaine Tariquet wines.
Remy Grassa, owner of Domaine Tariquet, hosted a wine tasting that provided us with a clear picture of the company's history, expansion, and current initiatives to stay ahead of the game and maintain their reputation for making high-quality wines. Rémy Grassa, owner of an environmentally friendly, family-run enterprise in the world-renowned wine region of Gascony, informed us about its possibilities. Domaine Tariquet is unique in that they handle everything in-house, from grape growing on their own land to winemaking. A true 100% wine producer, or propriétaire-récoltant in French.
The wines tasted at the tasting
Domaine Tariquet, Entracte 2020
Chenin 70%, Chardonnay 30%
We started with a gorgeous bubble, incredibly fresh, nice and dry, and it didn't feel like a methode traditionnelle because of the slightly coarser bubbles, which yet felt exquisite in their own way. It turned out to be a brute nature, zero dosage, Charmat technique bubble with no CO2 addition. This is a closed-tank second fermentation. The wine was then aged for six months on the lees.
Domaine Tariquet, Imprévu 2022
Riesling 66%, Ugni blanc 34%
This was my favorite flavor of the bunch! Fruity, peach, and salty. Early harvest acidity of medium (++) with superb lime zest smells.
Domerlintiquet, Rosé de Pressée 2022
Merlot 30%, Cabernet Franc 30%, Syrah 25%, Tannat 15%
A beautiful rose to enjoy in the sun with some tiny snacks. Grapefruit, red apple, orange, and strawberry aromas in a light body with mild acidity.
Domaine Tariquet, Contradiction 2022
100% Marselan
Rose with gentle structures, strawberries, a little lime and orange, medium (+) acidity, and a great match with salmon and tuna.
Domaine Tariquet, Classic 2021
Ugni blanc 45% and Colombard 35%, Sauvignon 10%, Gros Manseng 10%
We had the opportunity to taste the Classic 2021 and 2022!
Excellent lime, green apple, and grapefruit aromas with a medium (+) acidity very nice and fresh in a light body.
Domaine Tariquet, Classic 2022
Ugni blanc 45% and Colombard 35%, Sauvignon 10%, Gros Manseng 10%
Fuller-bodied than the 2021 Classic, with exotic fruit, peach, and citrus in a very fresh and round body and mild acidity.
Domaine Tariquet, Amplitude 2022
Gros Manseng 100%
Lime, vanilla without wood aromas, citrus, gooseberry, medium acidity with a long finish. Perfect with fish and beurre blanc with lemon and thyme.
Domaine Tariquet, Réserve 2021
Gros Manseng 40%, Chardonnay 30%, Sauvignon 20%, Sémillon 10%
Grapefruit, citrus, lime, green apple with vanilla and coconut, very great structure and medium (+) acidity.
Domaine Tariquet, Dernières Grives 2019
Petit Manseng 100%
Sweet red apple, gentle citrus, mandarin, and green apple on a medium (+) acidity. There are also hints of pickle water and green bell pepper. It was a good match for a sweet dessert, but it wasn't my favorite type of wine.
The Story of Domaine Tariquet
In southwest France, Domaine Tariquet is a winery and Armagnac distillery. The Grassa family has owned the estate since 1912 and is well-known for producing Armagnac, which is still made today. The majority of Domaine Tariquet's wines are white (15) and rose (2).
In the early 1980s, Domaine Tariquet was a pioneer in the production of white wines in Gascony. The Grassa family's concept is to preserve the freshness and aromatic potential of the grapes collected from the estate's vineyards throughout the vinification process.
Since the early 1990s, the vineyards have been managed responsibly in order to protect soil life and produce grapes of the highest possible quality. Committed about environmental protection, the estate is ISO - environmental management and HVE - High Environmental Value certified. Domaine Tariquet also takes full responsibility for all of its social and environmental responsibilities, from the vine to the distribution of its wine bottles.
The wine region of Côtes de Gascogne
Côtes de Gascogne is a wine-growing region in Southwest Gascony's Gers Department. It is one of the oldest wine-growing regions in France, producing primarily white wines. The vineyards cover approximately 12,000 hectares and are located between Bordeaux and the Spanish border. The IGP label Côtes de Gascogne also applies to wines produced in the Gers administrative department of south-western France. The region is recognized for its crisp, fresh, and fruity white wines created from native grapes such as Colombard and Ugni Blanc.
What distinguishes the wines of this region from those of the rest of France?
The wine produced in France's Côtes de Gascogne region is different from other French wines in that it is mostly white, although the majority of French wines are red. The region is recognized for its crisp, fresh, and fruity white wines created from native grapes such as Colombard and Ugni Blanc. The Gascony wine region is noted for producing high-quality white wines due to its unique climate and soil conditions.
PESCA Amsterdam restaurant
Pesca delivers daily-changing seafood dishes. Customers can choose their own fresh seafood at the restaurant's "open fish market" concept. The menu at Pesca focuses on delicious servings of fish and seafood.
Conclusion
I fully endorse Domaine Tariquet's wines. They're crisp and refreshing, and the higher-end wines are elegant. The wines have a good price-quality ratio and are widely available in the Netherlands and throughout the world. If you have the opportunity, you should try them.
Thank you again for inviting us, PitchPR, Walraven Sax, and Domaine Tariquet!
