Weingut Dürnberg - Tradition Grüner Veltliner 2019 (87 TSW)
Winery Dürnberg is located in the village of Falkenstein (70 KM north of Vienna) in the historic heart of the Austrian region Weinviertel. The climate has hot summers and cold winters. Together with the high location of the vineyards, it offers the excellent size of the grapes and concentrated aromas.
The Weinviertel is the largest wine region in Austria between the Danube and the Czech border in the extreme Northeast of Austria. Here you will find a variety of grape varieties, although Grüner Veltliner is the most commonly planted here. But Zweigelt, St. Laurent and Pinot Noir also give nice results here.
This wine undergoes a strict grape selection and a long maturation on the lees until spring. They produce wine impresses with its straight lines and expressiveness.
On the label is an extract of their oldest wine code from 1309. A tribute to the long wine tradition of this region.
My tasting notes:
In the glass a bright citrus yellow color.
On the medium nose aromas of citrus, yellow apple and grapefruit with hints of white pepper, blossom and honey.
On the palate dry, medium bodied with medium+ acidity and nice freshness. Flavours of pineapple, apples, stonefruit and spices. Round and fresh in the mouth with a crispy aftertaste.
Perfect with fish, crustaceans and shellfish, white meat, vegetable dishes and typical Austrian dishes such as the Wiener Schnitzel.
