Weingut am Nil - Grauburgunder 2016 87 TSW)
Another beautiful day in Holland. Shame it cools down in the evening so we had to start early with this refreshing white one from the Pfalz region.
In the glass it shows a bright straw yellow color.
On the medium nose aromas of melon, pear, citrus and light nutty hints
On the palate nice freshness, easy going and balanced, medium+ acidity with tropical fruits, pear and honey and a medium+ aftertaste. Well done.
Grauburgunder or Grauer Burgunder is the German name for Pinot Gris. The light pink grape that gives buttery, full and soft white wines. They can have a strong aroma of honey, pear, spices, a pinch of nutmeg and ripe tropical fruit. He comes in different styles. The German and Alsatian Pinot Gris can be quite rich, while the Italians often make their Pinot Grigio somewhat tighter and lighter.
The Pinot Gris is family of Pinot Blanc and Pinot Noir. It is a grape with potential for great wines. In Germany and Austria they call him Grauburgunder, Grauer Burgunder, or Rülander. In Hungary, it is hardly possible to speak out Szürkebarát.
