Today drinking this great value Tempranillo from Mendoza.
Founded in 1975, Bodega y Cavas de Weinert is emblematic of the European cultural heritage of Argentine viticulture.Since its first vintage in 1977, Bodegas Weinert has maintained a strict commitment to producing only high-quality wines and is recognized around the world as an icon of Argentine elegance and style. The vineyards where the grapes used to produce the wines of Bodegas Weinert are located in the regions of Luján de Cuyo and Maipú. Vine age ranges from 25 to 100 years old. The beautiful underground cellars were built in 1890 and 1975, and it is here that the red wines are aged for more than two years in European oak casks, giving the wines complexity, stability and grand aging potential.
The soil types found in the vineyard from which Bodegas Weinert selects grapes are mostly fast-draining, sandy and rocky soils with a high mineral content. Average rainfall is around 240 mm (9.5 inches) annually, and the altitude ranges from 850 to 1,100 meters (2,788 to 3,700 feet) above sea level. During harvest, temperatures vary from 35°C (95°F) during the day to 14°C (57°F) at night.
About the wine:
In the glass a deep dark red color with a brownish rim.
On the medium nose aromas of plums, dark cherries and pepper with hints of cedar, leather and smoke.
On the palate dry, medium+ bodied with good acidity and still present well integrated tannins. Flavours are a recall of the nose with red fruits, vanilla and mint. Light sweet fruity attack in the persistent finish.
A wine with a great PQR.
