Wagner-Stempel – Riesling Trocken Gutswein 2018 (87 TSW)
When you like dry riesling’s like me – you will love the wines from this producer.
The entry level Riesling from this producer really is worth a try.
In the glass a citrus yellow color with green reflections.
On the medium+ nose aromas of citrus, green apple and pear with hints of lemon zest and petrol.
On the palate dry, medium bodied with medium++ acidity and good balance. Medium+ mineral finish. Nice!
About the winery:
Winery Wagner-Stempel from Siefersheim, Rheinhessen, has rapidly gained a great name recognition, partly due to all the praising words and reviews in the Eichelmann guide and through the Gault Millau.
Daniël Wagner is the passionate winemaker behind the success of the winery. Despite the fact that the (13 ha) vineyards are in Rheinhessen, the wines that come from them have many similarities with those from the Nahe.
This region is the so-called Rheinhessische Schweiz in the west of Rheinhessen.
The name owes this region to it’s higher hills than the rest of the region. The volcanic porphyry bottoms are also unique to Rheinhessen. Porphyr bottoms form the basis of these elegant wines with beautifully fine acids. The vast majority is dry and it is precisely those wines that stand out positively every year.
The Weingut constantly honors the 'Aufsteiger des Jahres 2009' election and for good reason the wines of Wagner-Stempel have won the title "Wine of the Year" on the Wine Competition Proefschrift Wine Competition for the past four years. The company has been bio-certified since 2008. The production amounts to around 165,000 bottles per year, of which more than 40% is exported.
