Tua Rita - Keir IGT Toscana Ansonica 2019 (90+ TSW)
The first vintage of this new white wine produced by this iconic Marremma winery.
Keir Ansonica, a wine that comes from a traditional Tuscan varietal (called Inzolia in Sicily) It is an etiquette that is enriched over the four years of vinification in amphora that started in 2016 with a red berry Keir (Syrah)
Keir Ansonica is a new way for Tua Rita to ‘think and do’. Somehow, but still faithful to tradition, Tua Rita wanted to put itself to the test creating something novel.
Keir Ansonica is presented in an elegant Borgognotta (Burgundy bottle) has an alcohol content of 11°.
Grapes are picked by hand in crates. After the harvest, the grapes are pressed and the fermentation is completely on amphoras. The wine is fully vinified on amphorae with skin soaking for 2 months. After this, the wine remains in concrete barrels before being bottled. It is a wine that has been neither clarified nor filtered and is a limited series of about two thousand bottles.
Maceration with the skins in Terracotta Amphora for 6 month and about 6 months in used French oak barrels; after going into bottle in the summer, the wine is left to age for several months before release to market.
My tasting notes:
In the glass a bright golden yellow color.
On the medium(+) nose aromas of lemon zest, tropical fruits and yellow apple with hints of smoke, honey, spices, herbs and broom.
On the palate dry, medium(+) bodied with nice acidity, freshness and complexity. Flavours are a recall of the nose with a medium(+) length finish. Very nice first vintage of this special white wine.
