Trossos del Priorat - Pam de Nas 2014
Pairing Suggestions
Trossos del Priorat - Pam de Nas 2014 (92 TSW)
My notes:
First decanter this. Do it quick with the Vspin.
In the glass a dark ruby red color with garnet reflections.
On the medium++ nose aromas of blackberries, dark cherries and red currants with smoky notes of spices, chocolate, mint, laurel and forest floor. A wine you keep sniffing ????
On the palate dry, full-bodied with medium+ acidity and ripe tannins. Flavours of dark fruits, chocolate, barrique and spices with a beautiful complexity. Strong but also with nice freshness and elegance. The finish is long and never ending.
About the winery:
At the very heart of the Priorat region lies the village of Gratallops. The wine Pam de Nas is produced from old vineyards planted in steep slate slopes located on the outskirts of that town.
Produced by Trossos del Priorat, this Spanish red wine is made from a blend of Grenache and Carignan. Manually harvested and meticulously selected, the grapes were destemmed, macerated and fermented in stainless steel tanks for 20 days. After that, this Crianza red wine underwent malolactic fermentation in 50% new and 50% used French oak barrels. Then the wine was aged in those same barrels for 12 months.
Finally, Pam de Nas 2014 spent a further 20 months in the bottle before its commercial release.
Produced only in remarkable vintages, this red wine from Priorat has a great ageing potential.
Only 2,500 bottles produced.
