Tomaz wines - Malvasia Avangarde 2020 (88 TSW)
About four years ago I visted the Istria region in Croatia. Since that visit i am in love with the wines from this area.
That's why I started searching for a good webshop with a nice selection of wines from Croatia. I found this one on croatiarevealed.com
Back to the wine:
Malvasia Avangarde is a wine produced exclusively from the variety – Istrian Malvasia, from the Motovun vineyard.
In the glass a bright citrus yellow color with golden rim.
On the medium nose aromas of stonefruit, orangezest and flowers with hints of citrus and elderflower.
On the palate dry, medium bodied with medium acidity and nice freshness. Flavours of lemon, grapefruit, apricot, peach and ripe plums. Pleasant and balanced in the aftertaste. Fruit dominated and perfect with some sun.
Malvasia Avangarde is recommended to be combined with delicacies based on the black truffle, white fish and shellfish, and white meat prepared with a sauce infused with herbs. Serve chilled at 10 – 12 °C.
About the winery:
The Tomaz winery is located at the foot of a small town of Motovun. The 16 hectares of their vineyards extend on the slopes of the same townlet. The annual production reaches up to 100,000 bottles. The Istrian Malvazija is dominant, while other autochthonous varieties are Teran and Muscat (Moscatel or Moscatel). Along with the aforementioned labels, Merlot stands out, while Rosè and sparkling wine are made from Teran. The advantage of the Tomaz family's wines is represented by the micro-climate conditions where Mediterranean and continental climates combine. This influences a great difference in temperature during the day and night, which benefits the quality of ripening of the grapes and enriches the wine with a very intense aromatic flavor.
