Tenuta Sette Cieli - Indaco 2016 (92/93+ TSW)
A couple of weeks ago I tasted the Noi4 Bolgheri 2012 from Tenuta dei Sette Cieli and I was really surprised with the good quality of the wine. Today one of their flagship wines.
A blend of Malbec, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot.
After a selection of the best grapes, harvest is done by hand between the end of September and mid October.
Fermentation in stainless-steel tanks at controlled temperatures; with indigenous yeast; 100% malolactic. Maceration: Cold with dry ice for 6 - 7 days. Ageing for 14-18 months in French oak followed by 6 months of bottle ageing.
My tasting notes:
In the glass a deep blackisch ruby red color.
On the medium(+) nose delicate aromad of dark cherries, currants and blackberries with hints of forest fruit, cedar, figs, tobacco and black pepper.
On the palate dry, medium(++) bodied with medium(+) acidity and ripe medium(+) tannins, Nicely balanced with great structure showing flavours of black currants, dark brooding cherries, liquorice and pepper with a beautifull long aftertaste. Still young. Waiting will be rewarded. Great potential.
This wine goes well with beef/boar ragout and pappardelle, spicy vegetable pizza, poultry, game and stew.
Tenuta Sette Cieli is located between Bolgheri and Castagneto Carducci, on the coast of Tuscany at 400 meters above sea level. The Estate sprawls out over 80 hectares, 10 of which are set up as vineyards. The Estate overlooks Bolgheri and its landscapes made up of gently down sloping hills that enclose the sea, thus creating a fantastic mild and temperate microclimate.
A winery to keep an eye on!
