In the glass a medium citrus yellow color.
On the medium nose aromas of ripe pear, citrus, peach and tropical fruits with hints of flint, hay and spices.
On the palate dry, medium bodied with medium(+) acidity and nice freshness and complexity. Lots of white fruit, citrus, light butter and a medium(+) length finish.
To pair with: shellfish, vegetarian and starters and snacks.
About the winery:
In 2005 Silvia Maestrelli bought an old vineyard planted with the local grape Nerello Mascalese. This was the beginning of Tenuta di Fessina, a recent estate that has quickly become one of the very best references from the Etna area.
The typical black lava soil, the high age of the vines and the high altitude of 670 meters produce gems of wines, both white and red. Especially the refreshing, mineral character of the wines stands out, both in smell and taste, and provide a sublime balance with the ripe fruit notes.
Moreover, Silvia and Robert can boast the outstanding talent of their winemaker Federico Curtaz, who is responsible for the entire production process. This top talent is obviously not in his prime because he has already worked for twenty years for other top wineries such as Gaja before joining Tenuta di Fessina in 2005. Fascinated by the beautiful surroundings of Etna, he also succeeds in letting the individuality of the wines speak for themselves by respecting the original character of the region, its grapes and soil.
