Tenuta Conte Romano – Friulano (88 TSW)
Really enjoyable these wines from Tenuta Conte Romano. Every vintage perfect quality from this Friuli winemaker.
Tenuta Conte Romano is located in Manzano, a DOC area of Friuli Colli Orientali - Friuli Venezia Giulia. This territory, thanks to a favourable microclimate and to the soil composed of Eocenic marl, is extremely well suited for growing wine grapes. The vineyards of the estate cover an area of more than 17 hectares on the hills and slopes of Manzano, going towards Buttrio.
Today, this successful company is led by Count Pietro and his son Augusto, winemaker. Both point to the enhancement of native white grape varieties, such as Friulano and Malvasia Istriana, together with a great classic of international enology such as Sauvignon, which finds a strong affinity in Friulian soils. "One of our particular pride derives from the fact that we managed to keep the older vineyards (70 years of age) in excellent condition, - explain the producers - and that all the more recently planted vineyards derive exclusively from the old" mother vines " grown on the estate, and therefore perfectly set in our microzone ”. Border and passion wines, all to try.
My tasting notes:
In the glass a bright straw yellow color.
On the medium+ nose aromas of yellow apple, apricot, yellow plums with floral hints and almond.
On the palate dry, medium++ bodied, lively with nice freshness showing apple, dried fruit and herbs.
Great match with: prosciutto crudo, salami and other sliced meats; pairs pleasantly with fish dishes and fresh and fatty cheeses.
