Tenuta Col d'Orcia - Brunello di Montalcino Riserva Poggio al Vento 1997 (91 TSW)
The Tenuta Col d'Orcia in the village of Sant'Angelo counts approximal 530 hectare property, whose origins date back to at least 1890, has 142 hectares of vineyards that are spread over several regions of origin.
Almost 110 hectares of this are planted with Brunello. Among them is Poggio Al Vento, one of the most excellent locations from which the Riserva of the same name comes. The Tenuta Col d'Orcia vineyards are almost all on the south-eastern slope of the cultivation zone facing Monte Amiata.
This 1997 red one is right at it's drinking window. I wouldn't keep it much longer.
In the glass a ruby red color with brownish rim.
On the medium+ nose aromas of dried cherries, leather, earth and hints of balsamico and black olives.
On the palate dry, medium+ bodied with soft tannins and medium acidity. Flavours of cinnamon, chocolate and coffee. Nice finish.
