Skok - Zabura (Friulano) 2019 (86 TSW)
Mabye you know how I love the wines from Friuli (Collio) region. This is a very nice aperitif wine from this beautiful region.
Zabura is the name of the Cru on which the Tocai Friulano plants grow, they decided to give that name to the wine: Zabura is indicated on the old maps of the 1700s.
The Collio is known as one of the best white wine regions in Italy. 2/3 of Skok's production is white. White grape varieties here are Pinot Grigio, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc and Friulano bottled under the name Zabura.
The area is located in Northern Italy and borders Austria and Slovenia to the north. Venice and the Adriatic Sea form the southern border. The foothills of the Alps with mineral subsoil. From the air you only see green landscapes full of vines. An exceptional location with exceptional terroirs.
The density of the vineyards on the Skok estate varies from 4,100 to 5,500 plants per hectare, with an average production per hectare between 50 and 55 hectoliters. Manual picking of the grapes with a strict selection. The grapes undergo a gentle pressing. Vinification and further maturation on stainless steel cuves. Education on its own fine 'groin'.
My tasting notes:
In the glass a bright straw yellow color.
On the medium nose aromas of lime, peach and white flowers with hints of green tea, almonds, honey and mediterranean herbs.
On the palate dry, medium(+) bodied with medium acidity and nice freshness. Flavours are a recall of the nose with extra flavours of tropical fruits. The finish has a light almond medium length.
