Schreckbichl Colterenzio - Pinot Grigio 'Puiten' 2017 (88 TSW)
It may seem as if I have raised the Christmas tree but I took this photo during the Christmas season.
A very enjoyable Pinot Grigio from Alto Adige wine region.
About the wine:
Fermentation in both stainless steel and large wooden barrels, at a constant temperature of 18 ° C. The wine is stored on the lies for fourteen days with exported batonnage. A portion of the majority is transferred to a large feeder. After ten months, the wine is combined and bottled again.
My tasting notes:
In the glass a bright citrus yellow color with geenish rim.
On the medium nose aromas of pear, apple and honey melon wih hints of spices and lemon peel.
On the palate dry, medium-bodied with round (light creamy) mouthfeel, medium+ acidity and freshness. Flavours of ripe pear, apples, citrus and light butter touch. Almond in the medium+ finish.
Girlan an der Weinstraße (Girlan on the Wine Route) is one of the oldest wine villages in South Tyrol. On the edge of Girlan is the small district Schreckbichl. With the protection of the Alps and 1,800 hours of sunshine a year, the area offers ideal conditions for the grapevines. 300 hectares of vineyards are cultivated in locations on 250 to 55 meters altitude. Cultivated are 12 different grape varieties. In addition to the high quality standards, it is the special South Tyrolean climate that leads to the idiosyncratic and typical character of the Schreckbichler wines.
