Rubbia al Colle - Le Pulledre Toscana 2012 (88 TSW)
Christmas vibes in tha house? Haha... not yet. This picture was from last year but I didn't managed to post this review so here I am with a post of last Christmas 2019 :)
Bruno, Giuliano, Michela, Matteo and Marco, then "Villa Crespia" in Franciacorta, "Rubbia al Colle" in Suvereto, "Oppida Aminea" in Sannio and "Giardini Arimei" in Ischia: we are talking about the Muratori family, which for generations has been active in the wine and produces wine in estates located in Lombardy, Tuscany, Campania and Ischia island in the Bay of Naples.
Four different realities, which however are united by the passion of a family that unconditionally loves their lands and their work.
In Villa Crespia, the Muratori family owns vineyards located in all the most prestigious areas of Franciacorta, and each variety has found its most suitable natural habitat. Their sparkling wines are very good.
In Tuscany, in Suvereto, in the heart of the Tuscan Maremma, the Muratori brothers manage the company "Rubbia al Colle", where Sangiovese, although accompanied by other international vines, remains the undisputed protagonist, capable of expressing itself in labels of absolute level, which are refined in the “barricocciaia”, made up, in fact, of terracotta barriques.
Blend of Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, Sangiovese, Petit Verdot and Ciliegiolo.
Each variety was pressed separately and refined in barriques for 20 months and after that the various barriques were mixed together to create the so-called cuvées, and then the newly born “Le Pulledre” was left to rest in a 25hl wooden barrel for another 5 months.
My tasting notes:
In the glass a deep ruby red color.
On the medium(+) nose aromas of dark and red fruits, cedar and young leather with hints of cacao, espresso, spices and vanilla.
On the palate dry, medium(+) bodied with medium acidity and elegant tannins. Flavours are a recall of the nose with medium(+) length finish.
