Riffel - Winemob Brut Nature
Pairing Suggestions
Riffel - Winemob Brut Nature (87 TSW)
NV / 12%abv / 100% Riesling / Organic wine.
This sparkling wine is the result of collaboration between Erik Riffel and the wineblogger WineMob (master of forksabrage). It is the connection of two worlds - that of the winemaker and that of the wineblogger - which both have the love for sparkling wine in common. The barren, steep southern slope of the Binger Scarlet Mountain provides the ideal conditions for this mineral Riesling sparkling wine.
Erik Riffel has been working organically since 2009 and biodynamically since 2012. This also includes taking into account the influence of the moon phases on wine cultivation and production. A complete lunar cycle lasts 28 days. The night black label takes up the lunar cycle.
The expansion follows the traditional method. After the selective hand picking, the whole grape pressing follows for a style that is characterized by delicacy and elegance. The wine is fermented in a temperature-controlled manner and remains on the lees until bottling in order to acquire its complex personality. The bottle is aged at least 30 months before disgorging.
My tasting notes:
In the glass a bright citrus color.
The bubble is persistent with a medium- mousse.
On the medium nose aromas of lemon, yellow apple and apricot with hints of yeast, flint, vegetables and dried flowers.
On the palate dry+, medium bodied, medium+ acidity showing flavours of lemon, apple and quinces with a smoky hint. Medium length finish.
A wine to enjoy with fish, seafood, chicken or on it’s own.
A sparkling to enjoy every day but I believe that there is only a limited edition.
