Ricasoli - Albia IGT Toscane Rosato 2018 ( 87 TSW)
This weekend we enjoyed the last summer days from August. This rosato was very enjoyable with that sunny weather. Barone Ricasoli is one of the most famous names in the Chianti area. Last Vinitaly I finally met Francesco Ricasoli who is in charge from the beginning of the 90s. A great personality with only one goal: Top quality.
This rosato is a blend of Sangiovese and Merlot.
Fermented in stainless steel at controlled temperature of 12°C-16°C for 25/30 days. Ageing for 3 months In stainless steel vats.
Overall 2018 was a complex harvest due to the climatic trends which tended to be more humid than on average in the past, but with excellent summer temperatures and a very dry period in the months of September and October. Thanks to good underground water supplies, the plants never suffered water stress and ripened regularly. The grapes brought to the cellars was of a very high quality, which leads us to hope for a high quality wine.
My tasting notes:
In the glass a bright pink color.
On the medium+ nose aromas of strawberries, raspberries and cherries with hints of roses and light herbs.
On the palate dry, medium bodied with a nice freshness and acidity showing flavours of red berries, melon and grapefruit bitterness with light pepper hints. Nice mineral character with a nice refreshing finish. Hard to resist with those summer vibes.
