Remelluri - Rioja Reserva 2009 ( 88 points )
In the glass a dark, pruney, slightly translucent color.
In the nose aromas of fresh forest fruits, figs and a hint of cassis, herbs and even some vegetal notes underneath, with whiffs of underplayed, woody spice.
On the palate the wine is dry in the mouth with a medium acidity. It has fine-grained tannins and well-integrated alcohol. Full body and pronounced intensity flavours of vanilla, ripe strawberries, red plums and hint of liquorice. The finish is long. Top.
Remelluri Reserva is the original Granja Nuestra Señora de Remelluri estate wine, fruit of the most important vineyards of the property. It originates from the three valleys surrounding the winery — Remelluri, Valderremelluri and Villaescusa — which belong to the municipalities of Labastida (RIOJA ALAVESA) and Rivas de Tereso, hamlet that belongs to San Vicente de La Sonsierra (RIOJA ALTA). Since the Fourteenth Century, these areas have formed part of Granja Nuestra Señora de Remelluri, the first single-vineyard Rioja property to work with the classic Medoc-Bordeaux method.
