A little history:
In 1958 the Produttori del Barbaresco was really founded. The Cantina Sociale dei Produttori del Barbaresco now has 60 members of 50 families and approximately 100 hectares of wine-growing land. The wine company mainly makes Barbaresco and Nebbiolo Langhe wines. These wines are more suitable for young drinking. In top wine years no less than nine different Cru wines are made; Sili, Rabaja, Pora, Montestefano, Ovello, Paja, Montefico, Moccagatta and Rio Sordo.
The nine cru's or vineyards of the Produttori lie on steep slopes consisting of the classic solid clay and marl of the Langhe. The most northerly chain of hills: Ovello, Montefico and Montestefano, have a higher clay content. They are known for their rich earthy, meaty flavors and firm structure. In the south are Pajé and Moccagatta, known for their intensity and elegance. Even further to the south is Barbaresco's largest slope, with the south side Asili, Rabajà and Pora. Among these three icons is the solitary southwest-facing slope of Rio Sordo, whose luxuriant Barbaresco exudes aromas of black cherry and truffle.
My tasting notes:
First I decanted it with the Vspin active Decanting system.
In the glass a ruby, garnet red color.
On the nose intense and delicate aromas of black cherries, orange peel and vanilla with lovely hints of tobacco, truffle and rose petals.
On the palate medium/full-bodied with medium acidity and fine grained tannins showing flavours of cherries, plums and raspberries with notes of tobacco, balasmico, chocolate and licorice. Great intensity and a long aftertaste. Already very nice but will keep for ten more years for sure.
