Prisoner Wine Co - The Prisoner 2015 Red (87 TSW)
The 2015 Prisoner is a Zinfandel-based blend with the balance in Cabernet Sauvignon, Petite Sirah, Syrah and just a splash of Charbono. It was sourced from well-known vineyards such as Somerston, Solari, York Creek and Hudson. The wine was aged in a combination of French and American oak before bottling.
The inspiration for the varietals blended into the wine stems from the Italian immigrants who originally worked the lands of Napa Valley. Back then the blend was referred to as the “mixed blacks” and consists of a collection of the darkest grapes grown in the area.
The label is based on the Little Prisoner etching, by one of Spain’s most famous painters, Francisco de Goya, who lived from 1746-1828. It depicts the atrocities of war between France and Spain during the artist’s time.

This is a real crowd pleaser but not "my cup of wine"
Well made but not for my palate.
My tasting notes:
In the glass a deep
On the medium(+) nose aromas of dark cherries, plums and raspberries with hints of chocolate, tobacco, vanilla and cedar.
On the palate dry, full-bodied with medium acidity and soft tannins. Thick, rich and for mee too yammy with a recall of the nose. Lots of fruit and chocolate in the medium(+) length finish.
