My tasting notes:
In the glass a medium straw yellow color with green reflections.
On the medium nose aromas of ripe citrus, lemon zest and white peach with hints of flowers and some honey.
On the palate medium bodied with lively(+) acidity and nice freshness. Flavours of melon, nectarine, citrus, mint and grapefruit. The finish has a medium length.
To pair with: Turkey, guinea fowl, delicate vegetables and fresh salads with spicy sauces. Also as appetizers!
About the winery:
Although the grape variety grillo has gained popularity in recent years, catarratto is still the most important white variety in Sicily as well as the second most common in all of Italy. The grape plays a major role in the work of winemaker Marco Sferlazzo. In fact, when he founded his winery in 2005, he was able to take over some great vineyards at high altitude with old catarratto vines. From these wonderful grapes he makes the Catarratto "PDV," where "PDV" stands for "Porta del Vento." The fruit comes from several vineyards of the organic and biodynamic winery in DOC Monreale.
