Poggio Al Tesoro - Dedicato a Walter Bolgheri Superiore 2015 (93/100 TSW)
Bolgheri's terroir, with its proximity to the sea and the particularly favourable exposure to the sun, allows Cabernet Franc to thrive. In this microclimate, Cabernet Franc vinified as a single varietal enhances its spicy nuances and gains elegance and depth. The wine is named after Walter Allegrini and symbolizes the love he felt for this land.

My tasting notes:
In the glass a deep dark red color with purple reflections.
On the medium(+) nose of blackcurrant and blackberries with hints of spices, cedar, tobacco. balsamico, vanilla and herbs.
On the palate dry, full bodied with medium acidity and ripe precise tannins. Great balance and complexity with flavours that are a recall of the nose. Long and complex finish. Still young but very nice already.

To pair with: Rich and succulent meat dishes, such as lamb, pigeon, duck, and hare, as well as stews and meat braised in red wine. Perfect with a fine selection of mature cheese.
About the winery:
The Poggio al Tesoro winery is located in the famous Bolgheri, not far from Castagneto Carducci and is a joint venture between the famous Veronese winemaking family Allegrini and the influential American wine importer Leonardo Lo Cascio. After a long preparation, the foundation stone was laid in 2001. Walter, Franco and Marilisa Allegrini, together with their oenologist Nicola Biasi, began winemaking. Today the winery is run by Marilisa Allegrini.
