Poderi del Paradiso - Chianti Colli Senesi Riserva 2016
Poderi del Paradiso - Chianti Colli Senesi Riserva 2016 (88 TSW)
Today a very nice Chianti from the San Gimignano area. I paired it with an italian stew but it's also very nice with Bistecca Fiorentina, Tuscan meat dishes or mature hard cheeses.
Fermentation and maceration for 3-4 days at controlled temperatures. Malolactic fermentation. Aged 20 months in second use barrels and then for some months in the bottle.
My tasting notes:
In the glass a deep ruby red color.
On the medium+ nose aromas of ripe cherries, red currants and ripe blackberries with smoky toasted wood, spices, vanilla, balsamico and coffee.
On the palate dry, medium++ bodied with medium+ acidity and tannins. Flavours of cherries, blackberries, tobacco and leather and a medium+ lenght finish. For me at the moment too much toasted oak and high in alcohol. It's a style which lots will like but I miss the elegance (at the moment). Mabye retry in some more years.
