Pitzner - Cuveè Bianco Marthò 2017 (86 TSW)
Blend of Moscato Giallo 70% and Pinot Grigio 30%
Moscato Giallo is a white grape from the Aosta valley. More and more producers are succeeding in making very elegant wines with this variety that although smell intensely like the muscat grapes still keeps fresh, tight and bone-dry.
Pitzner is one of the smallest wineries in Trentino Alto Adige, and integrate as much as possible the microclimate and the territorial characteristics in the production process; a well coordinated and respectful processing is the basis for the quality of their wines. The vines grow on calcareous, sandy and deep soils.
Pressing of whole grapes, 12 hours of maceration, natural sedimentation of the must and controlled fermentation in stainless steel barrels with refining on the skins (only Moscato Giallo) for four days. Batonnage until February with aging "sur lies" until March.
My tasting notes:
In the glass a bright citrus yellow color with copper reflections.
On the medium+ nose aromas of white flowers, roses, pear, melon and tropical fruits.
On the palate medium+ bodied, nicely balanced between the sweetness and the acidity with amedium+ mineral finish.
Perfect for aperitif, Mediterranean snacks, fish, white meat and Asian dishes.
