Despite the northern location, the Alto Adige region (Südtirol) is one of the warmest regions in Italy. The Habsburgs did not call it their 'solar balcony' for nothing. The climate is, just like culture, at the same time Mediterranean and alpine: a large part of the year during the day very warm with plenty of cold nights. This difference between day and night temperatures ensures complex, pure, aromatic wines.
In 2011 they decided to move away from the village centre of Montagna to set up a new winery, their main concern was to ensure that the premises were firmly embedded in their natural surroundings whilst retaining maximum functionality. Despite, or perhaps because of, its straight lines, the building was intended to sink into the background, leaving the stage clear for the real stars: nature, the landscape and... the wine. Simple shapes and a predominantly black colour scheme ensure that these leading actors are never out of sight. Through its enormous window facade, the tasting room offers breath-taking views of the South Tyrolean lowlands and the surrounding mountains. In the cellar, a trail of colours leads the way, ending with dark blue in the Blauburgunder (Pinot noir) cellar. Definitely a must-see!
About the wine:
Fermentation takes place in steel barrels at a controlled temperature of 18°C. Maturation in the barrel on the fine lees produces a refined taste and aroma.
In the glass bright yellow color with green reflections.
On the nose intense aromas of passion fruit, citrus and gooseberries with hints of fresh cut grass, lilac and other flowers.
On the palate dry, clean and well balanced with high acidity, nice minerality and a little fatness. Flavours of passionfruit, and gooseberries with nice long light spicy finish.
