Petra - Belvento Sireno Toscana (I Vini del Mare) 2015
Pairing Suggestions
Petra - Belvento Sireno Toscana (I Vini del Mare) 2015 (88 TSW)
I have been looking for a wine for a while that I could drink every day without being too simple but also not too complex. This wine would be perfect for this occassion. It’s also a wine that everyone would like. Also the trained taster.
The Sireno is a blend of Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon and Sangiovese that embodies the main varieties cultivated by the Petra Winery with a natural method aimed at preserving the biodiversity of viticultural heritage.
They wait for the grapes to become perfectly ripe, and harvest them at the peak of their expressive potential. After being selected by hand in the vineyard, the grapes arrive at the winery in small 15kg crates and then undergo a second careful sorting by hand.
The wine is vinified in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature of 27°C. Malolactic fermentation and subsequent maturation, lasting not less than 12 months, takes place partly in small oak barrels (225 lt) and partly in large oak barrels (30/50 hl), both of which are strictly “never new” (used twice or three times previously) rhythms.
My tasting notes:
Suggestion: Decanting will help.
In the glass a deep ruby red color with violet reflections.
On the nose medium+ aromas of dark cherries, elderberries and plums with well integrated hints of chocolate, rosemary, flowers and black pepper.
On the palate dry, medium bodied, medium tannins and acidity. Easy going in the mouth but never boring with plums, cherries, vanilla and chocolate. Pretty medium+ fruit/balsmico finish.
Pairs great with pasta, roasted meat but also salami and cheese.
Belvento project is part of the Terra Moretti group and is intimately connected to the Petra winery, the first iconic Moretti family project in Suvereto.
