Parés Baltà - Garnatxa Hisenda Miret 2017 (90 TSW)
100% Grenache from Penedès wine region!
Parés Baltà has been owned by the Cusiné family since 1790 and has since passed from father to son. The company, which has meanwhile been acquired for 214 hectares, is located in Penedès, even ten west of Barcelona. Different soil types and microclimates are reached with vineyards from 170 to 750 meters above sea level (in all three sub-zones).
Three generations are currently working together: grandmother Rosa Cusiné, son Joan Cusiné and his sons Joan and Josep Cusiné Carol. The wives of the sons, who have graduated in oenology, Marta Casas and Elena Jimenez, are the brains in the basement and thus tradition and modern knowledge go hand in hand.
From the first moment, Parés Baltà works responsibly or biologically. For example, the family works with its own herd of sheep that fertilizes the soil and bees are exported to transmit the Mediterranean influences through pollination. Since 2004, the Cava 'and all the wines of the house are certified organic and biodynamic.
The house, which has become the region's leading home, has a variety of elegant, modern but still characteristic of the region, wines and Cavas.
Still a young wine so I decanted it for two hours. A pure garnatxa from Penedès. The fruit of the ancient estate of Hisenda Miret.
My tasting notes:
In the glas a dark and vivid red color.
On the medium+ aromatic nose aromas of dark cherries, raspberries and dark berries with hints of tea leaves, tobacco, dried flowers and sweet forest fruits.
On the palate dry, full-bodied, very concentrated fruit with good balance and a bed of round tannins. Flavours are fruit forward with light creaminess, fleshy and toasted hints with spices in the back. Very interesting wine with a beautiful long finish. The wine’s originality is very enjoyable. Would love to retaste this one in 5 years.
