Panizzi - Folgóre San Gimignano Rosso DOC 2015

Panizzi - Folgóre San Gimignano Rosso DOC 2015 (91 TSW)
The perfect red blend with these rainy days in the Netherlands.
Blend of 60% Sangiovese, 20% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Sauvignon.
A rare wine, dedicated to Folgóre (the 13th century poet of San Gimignano), which comes from a vineyard of about 1 hectare planted in the 90s, where Sangiovese, Merlot and Cabernet grapes are trained using the open lyre system, a laborious and expensive vineyard training method to obtain top quality grapes for making an extraordinary Red Tuscan Blend with an important aging potential and of San Gimignano origin.
The three varieties are harvested together between the end of September and the beginning of October. Maceration and alcoholic fermentation on the skins for 20 days. Aging in small new oak barrels for a period of 18 months. To keep for 10 (or more) years in the cellar.
My tasting notes:
In the glass a bright ruby red color with purple edges.
On the medium(+) nose aromas of plums, red currants and blackberries with hints of vanilla, tobacco, spices, young leather and liquorice.
On the palate dry, medium(+) bodied with medium acidity and medium(+) ripe smooth tannins. Round and balanced mouthfeel with flavours that are a recall of the nose with a medium(+) smooth fruity finish.
It pairs well with game, flavoured meats, braised and roast meats, chocolate.
Curious how it will taste within 3/5 years.
