Palacio de Bornos - La Caprichosa 2018 (88 TSW)
If you are tired of braving the dark, rainy weather then you should definitely open this bottle!! This bottle brings back the sun in the glass. A wine from the Rueda region with an excellent PQR. The Rueda wine region (next to Toro and Riber del Duero) is just over 150 kilometers north-west of the city of Madrid. Extensive high plains and gently rolling hills, only occasionally interrupted by a river valley, determine the landscape here. The vines benefit from an excellent soil in these areas. Like no other, the Rueda region is a model for the new Spain, where old traditions have been given a surprisingly modern interpretation in recent years. Hard work is being done at Palacio de Bornos to harvest good, perfectly ripe grapes. Finding the ideal balance between extract and refinement is what it is all about for them.
About the wine:
100% Verdejo, from an old vineyard, planted in goblet in low fertile pebbly soil.
Fermentation in temperature-controlled stainless steel vats for 15 days with 4 months on lees.
In the glass a bright golden yellow color with green reflections.
On the medium+ nose aromas of peach, apricot and citrus with hints of flowers and vegetable notes (hay, herbs)
On the palate dry, medium+ bodied with good volume, fatness and nice medium+ acidity. Flavours of tropical fruit, vanilla and citruspeel. Very elegant and fresh Rueda wine.
