Monteverrro - Vermentino di Monteverro Toscana 2017 (88 TSW)
100% Vermentino from Maremma – Toscana.
Author: Goswijn Simons
On the background you see Mrs C. @theinteriorfeed enjoying this great meal with #burrata and grilled vegetables. It paired great with the Vermentino. Great dinner with friends.
My tasting notes:
In the glass a bright golden yellow color.
On the medium+ nose delicate aromas of apple, pear and pineapple with well integrated hints of herbs, almond, citrus and white pepper with light vanilla.
On the palate dry, fresh and balanced with medium+ acidity and medium body, showing medium+ flavours of citrus, peach, grapefruits and tropical hints. Mineral and fresh finish.
About the winery
With Tenuta Monteverro, located below the medieval town of Capalbio in the province of Grosseto, the successful German entrepreneur Georg Weber on the last hill in front of the Tyrrhenian Sea has gained courageous access to the society of the Tuscan wine aristocracy. Previously, Gerorge had searched for several years between Napa Valley, Bordeaux and Australia with no result for his vine paradise.
To create unique and authentic wines, Weber trusts in the advice of renowned French professionals: soil specialist Claude and Lydia Bourguignon, and world-renowned wine consultant Michel Rolland. In the cellar only hand-picked fruits of the highest quality are processed very gently. The grapes are cooled down to seven degrees in a cooling tunnel. No pumps are used, only gravity is used to extract silky tannins. In the barrique cellar, the temperature under the wooden barrels can be increased by heating the floor in case the malolactic fermentation is interrupted.
