Monteverro - Toscana 2009

Monteverro - Toscana 2009 (93 TSW)
Recently I opened the flagship wine from Monteverro and I am glad I have still 5 bottles to go :) One of my favorite Tuscany wineries. This year selected by Decanter as one of the Top 10 wineries to visit in Tuscany.
And I still have to visit.
A true Premier Grand Cru of Maremma, made from the classic Bordeaux grape varieties Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot and Petit Verdot and yet with the unmistakable character of the Tuscan coast. An ambitious wine in every respect - the grapes are exclusively from prime locations on the slopes which flow gently to the sea with every lot vinified separately. Fermentation in inox and barrel Natural fermentations 100 % gravity. The wine is aged for about 24 months in barriques from the best coopers (70-80 % new wood) and then for two years in the bottle.
My tasting notes:
In the glas a deep dark red color with purple reflections
On the medium+ nose aromas of raspberries, blackberries and cassis with hints of leather, sweet tobacco, vanilla, earth and balsamico.
On the palate dry, full-bodied with beautiful layers. Warm and round mouthfeel with medium acidity and medium fine grained tannins. Nicely balanced with a recall of the nose with hints of dark chocolate. The finish is long and velvet.
