Pairing Suggestions
Michele Satta - Costa di Giulia Bianco Bolgheri DOC 2018 (87 TSW)
Blend of 70% Vermentino and 30% Sauvignon Blanc.
Great memories to my visit to the Bolgherin wineregion last year.
Which I was overthere right now!
When you visit my blog you can read the whole story. Michele Satta, Campo alla Sughera, Podere Sapaio, Antinori Guado al Tasso and La Cipriani were on my list. Keep supporting these local wineries.
This wine, which was originally produced from 100% Vermentino, underwent a slight change in ‘97 with the inclusion of Sauvignon Blanc, which had been planted in 1995. Michele Satta planted the Sauvignon Blanc with the affirmation that the soil in Bolgheri was capable of producing even greater white wines, richer, fruiter, and longer on the palate.
The vines are trained on the Guyot method, undergoing a Spring pruning with all work in the vineyards completed by hand. The strictest of care is given to the vines during the maturation of the fruit. The wine undergoes a natural decantation of the refrigerated must, followed by fermentation, temperature controlled. The wine is filtered and bottled in Spring after a rest on the fine lees.
My tasting notes:
In the glass a bright straw yellow color.
On the medium nose aromas of peach, pear and yellow apple with hints of flowers, herbs and mint.
On the palate dry, medium bodied with medium+ acidity and nice freshness. Flavours of pear, gooseberries and citrus with a light salty finish.
