Since its foundation in 1858, Marqués de Riscal has been known as a leader and pioneer in the Spanish wine sector. The winery introduced the French grape varieties in Spain and won this innovation as the first non-French winery to receive the honors certificate at the Bordeaux exhibition.
Marqués de Riscal is the oldest winery in the Rioja and was also the first winery that produced wines from the Rueda. In 2011, the winery was voted one of the ten world's most admired wines by Drinks International. In 2014, the renowned Wine Enthusiast magazine chose the winery as European Winery of the Year. Recently, a luxurious hotel was built near the bodega that bears the name of the wine "Marques de Riscal". About the wine:
In May we visited Spain and we were looking for a nice and easy wine to pair with the Spaghetti alle Vongole. This is one of their entry level white wines with a very nice PQR.
In the glass a bright golden yellow color with green reflections.
On the nose clean and medium nose of pineapple, citrus and green apple with hints of grass and almond.
On the palate dry and light crispy with fresh acidity and light waxy with a recall of the nose with hints of peach and a mineral touch. The finish shows some almond and flower notes.
