Kellerei Terlan or Cantina Terlano Pinot Bianco Tradition 2018 (87 TSW)
I hope you enjoyed the Christmas days and New Year's Eve. I wish you all the best for 2020 with lots of good wines. Founded in 1893, the Cantina Terlano winery is now one of the leading wine growers’ cooperatives in South Tyrol, with a current membership of 143 growers working a total area of 190 hectares.
I love their "selection line" but also the traditional line never disappoints me.
This Pinot Bianco from we drank as aperitif. Easy going with lovely minerality from Alto Adige.
My tasting notes:
In the glass a pale citrus yellow color with green reflections.
On the medium nose aromas of apple, pear, banana and melon with hints of honey, lemon grass and lime.
On the palate dry, medium bodied with medium acidity and freshness. Flavours of pear, lemon, mango and nice minerality. Medium aftertaste.
Not a complex wine but perfect as a starter or a good companion with hors d’oeuvres such as vitello tonnato or salmon and tuna carpaccio; courgette flowers with a stracchino cheese or in combination with burrata; avocado salad; regional dishes like spinach spaetzle or schlutzkrapfen; also in combination with spaghetti alla carbonara; scallops au gratin, and grilled scampi, dentex or sea bream.
