Herdade da Malhadinha Nova - Monte da Peceguina rosé 2017 (87 tsomw points)
On Friday we arrived at the Malhadinha Nova estate in Alentejo. It's a beautiful estate with ofcourse the winery, luxe accommodations with swimmingpool, a remarkable restaurant and agriculture activities.
Wine, the pillar of Mediterranean civilisation and culture, is the central theme at Malhadinha and is everywhere in the experiences they offer.
The Malhadinha Nova Winery boasts unique characteristics that are ideal for obtaining distinctive wines of the highest quality. It is located only a few metres from the vineyard and takes advantage of the slope of the land so that the whole winemaking process is done by gravity.
The cellar where the barrels are stored was hewn out of the hillside to a depth of several metres and provides excellent conditions for the wine to age. Soon more on my blog and other reviews about their wines.
My tasting notes:
50 % Touriga Nacional and 50 % Aragonez.
In the glass a bright pink, salmon color.
On the nose intense aromas of strawberries, peach and orange flint with hints of violets and herbs.
On the palate well balanced with nice acidity and freshness. Not too light but with a certain fatness in it. It has a medium light spicy finish.
