Giulia Negri - La Tartufaia Langhe Chardonnay
Pairing Suggestions
Giulia Negri - La Tartufaia Langhe Chardonnay (91/100 TSW)
Giulia Negri's Chardonnay La Tartufaia is a wine reminiscent of great Burgundies. A brilliant expression of the terroir in the Langhe, with constant breezes for ventilation and wide temperature variations between day and night.
Variety: Chardonnay
Appellation: Langhe DOC
Vinification: The grapes for this Chardonnay are partly from 15-year-old vines from Serradenari, in the La Morra area. After manual harvest, the grapes are cold-pressed. This is followed by fermentation in stainless steel with selected yeasts. The wine is then aged for 16 months in 500-liter French tonneaux.
NL Import: @lapiumavini
Price range: €38,-
My tasting notes:
In the glass a medium citrus, straw yellow color.
On the medium (+) nose aromas of citrus, peach and ripe pineapple with hints of almonds, butterscotch, cream, light cedar, mint and hazelnuts.
On the palate medium (+) bodied with medium acidity and complex round mouthfeel. Flavours are a recall of the nose with a medium(+) light toasted almond finish.
To pair with: As an aperitif or with pasta with seafood.
About the winery: To receive the family's trust at the age of 24 to run the family estate is obviously saying something. We completely understand, rarely have we met a winemaker so driven. Trying to control everything and making a series of wines that many a passionate and experienced winemaker may envy. Still Giulia travels regularly to Burgundy and interacts with the young generation in this region and the refinement in her wines undoubtedly comes from these trips. At first she was the Barologirl, but since today she is supported by Alessia and Arianna, one must now speak of the Barologirls of Serradenari. Together, this team is responsible for the unique wines that are marketed under the name of Giulia Negri.
