Hampton Water – Rosé 2019 (88 TSW)
Blend of Syrah, Cinsault, Mourvèdre and Grenache from the Languedoc region.
The sun is shining in the Netherlands so it’s time for a nice #summerwine. Jon Bon Jovi has a great passion besides making music: producing wine. Together with his 22-year-old son Jesse and the French winemaker Gérard Bertrand, he launches their organic rosé wine Diving Into Hampton Water. Let's see we can find some rock ‘roll in this inviting bottle.
My notes:
In the glass a very bright salmon color with golden reflections.
On the medium nose aromas of roses, peach and melon with hints of vanilla, herbs and lemon.
On the palate dry, medium- bodied with medium acidity and freshness. Very elegant with flowers, peach, raspberries and spices. The finish is dry and mineral.
The vinifications have been taken into account to ensure that the specific characteristics of the grape varieties and the capacities of the terroirs have been taken into account. The grapes were destemmed, cooled to 8 ° C and then pressed to get the rosé must. The juice is grown less from the sea according to the aromatic profile. The fermentation takes between 15 and more than 30 days, depending on the degree of clarification and the temperature applied. The special feature of these vinifications is the focus on the color and the aromatic purity of the wines. Some wines are aged in barrels.
Combination of food and wine: Serve as an aperitif, with salads, sushi and grilled fish.
