Frerejean Frères - Premier Cru Brut
Pairing Suggestions
Frerejean Frères - Premier Cru Brut (90 TSW)
This champagne Frerejean Frères Brut 1er Cru is a blend of the typical champagne grape varieties namely 50% Chardonnay and 50% Pinot Noir and ripens for more than 5 years on its own yeasts (sur lie).
My tasting notes:
In the glass a bright golden yellow color. The mousse is fine and persistent.
On the medium nose aromas of pineapple, peach and pear with hints of toast, honey and almonds.
On the palate dry, easy going and elegant with nice freshness. In the pleasant aftertaste citrus, cream and apple.
This beautiful champagne is a perfect glass to enjoy but also a great accompaniment to “Fruits de mer”, such as oysters, shrimps and lobster. Also with fried turbot, sole, etc. Even with poultry and meat dishes such as vitello, poultry terrine or crispy fried sweetbreads.
About the winery:
Founded in Avize, a village of Champagne ranked as a Grand Cru, the House of Frerejean Frères was established in 2005. Only 10 hectares in size, this boutique production aspires to preserve and respect the unique terroir, allowing the vines and the wines to express the power and the subtlety of the land. The Frerejean-Taittinger brothers grew up with love and respect for the Champagne tradition. Passionate for oenology, Guillaume, Richard and Rodolphe created their own House of Champagne.
