Ferrer Bobet - Priorat 2016 (91 TSW)
During the Christmas Holidays we tasted several beautiful wines. This one was also included.
I found it at @decantalo
They have a beautiful selection of Spanish wines with a fair price tag.
Blend of 48% Cariñena, 22% Garnacha, 23% Syrah and 7% Cabernet Sauvignon
My notes:
In the glass a deep dark red color with purple rim.
On the medium++ nose aromas of ripe blackberries, dark cherries with roasted meat, balsamico, leather with earthy hints.
On the palate medium+ bodied with medium+ acidity and fine grained tannins. Lovely round mouthfeel and long aftertaste. Still young but already very drinkable. Very nice red.
The Ferrer Bobet winery is centrally located in the Priorat between Falset and Porrera. In 2002 the winemakers started this ambitious project.
The two protagonists Sergi Ferrer-Salat and Raül Bobet are no strangers in Catalonia. Ferrer-Salat made a career in the industrial sector. Bobet was chief oenologist for years at Miguel Torres.
Between 2004 and 2006 they established their winery at a beautiful location. Thanks to the natural stone and glass, the building is an architectural eye-catcher. The winery has an underground ripening cellar and high-tech installations. The great strength of the winery, however, are the very steep and high-lying plots. These are located in the middle of the coolest and windiest zone of the Priorat ( 22 ha. )
