Fattoria Della Talosa - Vino Nobile di Montepulciano Riserva DOCG 2013 (90 TSW)
Anyone entering the underground cellars of the winegrowing business in the two palaces of Tarugi and Sinatti in the historic center of Montepulciano, thinks back to the 16th century. In this fascinating and respectful setting, the wines of the Fattoria della Talosa are brought to maturity.
The winery is in the hands of the well-known entrepreneur Angelo Jacorossi sice the 70s. Under his charge Fattoria Della Taloso became one of the top wines of this region.
The vineyards are located in one of the most beautiful areas of Montepulciano, in southern Tuscany, at an altitude of between 350 and 400 meters, are meticulously cultivated, so that every September they can produce grapes that honor a Vino Nobile. In addition to the outstanding Sangiovese and the other indigenous grape varieties Canaiolo and Mammolo, the red vine portfolio also includes Merlot as a French variety.
The Talosa winery was founded in 1972 initially under the name Fattoria di Fognano, before being given its current name sixteen years later. Every year, around 100,000 bottles are produced here. The heavyweight of the range is clearly the Vino Nobile di Montepulciano. This characterful wine is developed in better years as Riserva.
About the wine:
100% Sangiovese and 36 months wooden barrels.
In the glass a dark ruby red color.
On the medium+ nose aromas of dark plums, black cherries and blackberries with hints of smoke, cinnamon and cooking spices.
On the palate dry, medium+ bodied with medium tannins and acidity. Flavours of dark fruit, dark compote, sweet cedar wood and vanilla. Well balanced with a medium+ light spicy finish. Very nice drinkable yet but will get better in the years.
