El Enemigo - Semillon 2018

El Enemigo - Semillon 2018 (90 TSW)
El Enemigo is the personal project of Alejandro Vigil (winemaker of Catena Zapata) and Adrianna Catena (historian, winegrower & youngest daughter of Nicolas Catena) and brings back the ultimate expression of Argentinian freshness and terroir.
The El Enemigo wines respond to the increasing demand for Argentinian top wines. It is without a doubt one of the most consistent wine portfolios made in Argentina today with near-perfect ratings by major wine critics.
El Enemigo is mostly known for Cabernet Franc, they also make great wines from the likes of Malbec (of course), Old Single Vinyard Bonarda, Chardonnay, Old Vine Sémillon, and Syrah.
About the wine:
Vineyard: Agrelo, Lujan de Cuyo in Mendoza.
Aging for 15 months French oak (10% new, 90% used), wild yeasts.
My tasting notes:
In the glass a bright golden yellow color.
On the medium nose aromas of lychee, baked pear, and gooseberries with hints of vanilla, butterscotch, lime and blossom.
On the palate dry, medium(+) bodied with medium acidity and freshness. Round mouthfeel with flavours of lime, gooseberries, chamomile, hazelnuts, butter , yellow apple and a splash of honey. Medium(+) length light almond and white pepper aftertaste.
