Dreissigacker - Riesling 2017 (88 TSW)
Jochen Dreissigacker is one of Germany's up-and-coming young talents in the field of new generation, dry riesling. The fully biologically cultivated vineyards are located in and around the village Bechtheim, in Rheinhessen.
The grapes are picked by hand and transported in small containers to the cellar. After the completely natural fermentation, the wine ripens for about 4 months on the sediment. This method gives a certain 'greasiness' to the wine. Familiarity outside Germany is limited, but active German sommeliers have already included Dreissigacker on their wine cards. Especially the pure, and for riesling very accessible, round style appeals while the wine is still nice and dry.
My tasting notes:
In the glass a bright golden yellow color.
On the medium+ nose crisp lemon, peach, slate, flowers, honey and a light petrol wiff.
On the palate medium+ bodied, dry with medium+ crisp acidity and light creamy flavours of grapefruit, mango, ripe apple and peach. Great long finish. Goof value for money.
