Domaines Bunan - Mas de la Rouviere – Bandol Rose 2016
Domaines Bunan - Mas de la Rouviere – Bandol Rose 2016 (88 tsomw points)
In 1961, Paul and Pierre Bunan, fell in love with an estate in the Bandol region, a noble and widely respected wine growing area in the south of France. Paul’s son, Laurent, returned to the family estate after completing his studies in oenology and winemaking in California. He was the first of the next generation to open the doors to a newer and more modern approach. Today he is in charge of the export and development of the Domaines Bunan.
The combined talents of this family unite to create a warm, welcoming and highly skilled team. Excellence and authenticity are the hallmarks of this family who pride themselves on producing wines of exceptional quality.
Today this is reflected in the development of organic and bio-dynamic growth techniques. Many sun hours, rocky terrain and stone walls characterize the vineyards of Domaines Bunan. Their wines are renowned internationally. Their rosé's Château La Rouvière and Mas de la Rouvière were judged by Winespectator last year as two of the three best in the world.
My tasting notes:
Classic Bandol Rosé, blend of Mourvèdre, Cinsault, Grenache.
In the glass a light pink color with a salmon-pink tone.
On the nose delicate aromas of exotic fruit, ripe forest berries with hints of herbs and citrus peel.
On the palate medium/full-bodied with nice round mouthfeel, pleasant freshness and acidity showing flavours of elderberry, raspberries and strawberries with a light spicy blanket. Nice long finish with light mint hints.
