Pairing Suggestions
Domaine Louis Magnin - Arbin Mondeuse Tout un Monde 2013 (88 TSW)
100% Mondeuse wine from the Savoye wineregion.
It's Europe’s no1 wine auction house, but sells wine at fixed prices too. They are based in Paris but are shipping worldwide. For two week’s they have the best of Jura, Alsace, Savoie wines available, with a price point for everyone (from € to €€€€!)
About the winery:
Louis Magnin is located near the town of Chambéry, Domaine Louis Magnin is a small family property with eight hectares of vines. Situated in the village of Arbin, it adjoins the Bauges Massif. The Magnin family adopt a very natural approach in both the vineyard and the winery, producing clean, direct biodynamic wines. It has for many years been one of Savoie's finest and most consistent properties.
About the wine:
The “Tout un monde” cuvée is an excellent Mondeuse, made using the grapes from a single, small parcel of hundred-year-old vines! It’s therefore a very rare wine, with only 3000 bottles produced. Vinification in stainless steel for 15 days. Gentle extraction (1x per day) by precipitation. Maturation in 600 liter barrel for 18 months.
My tasting notes:
In the glass a medium ruby red color.
On the medium nose aromas of cherries and wild berries with hints of cedar, eucalyptus and undergrowth.
On the palate dry, medium+ bodied with medium acidity and tannins. Balanced and round with a very clean an fruit driven finish. Fresh and with low alcohol.
