Blend of Vernaccia and Vermentino.
Attilio Contini was founded in 1898 by Salvatore Contini, and is one of the oldest and most prestigious wine companies in Sardinia. His son, Attilio, continued his work with great enthusiasm. The small and great-grandchildren are now working in the company. The company is based in Cabras on the peninsula of Sinis on the west coast of Sardinia. An area with an ancient tradition because of the Phoenician city of Tharros, the village of San Salvatore with its underground temple and the church of San Giovanni. Not far from Cabras lies the archaeological dig "Sa Osa" where food remains and grape seeds have been found from before 2000 BC.
Mabye you know I also run a webdesign company in the Netherlands. One of my customers knows I am a big winelover so he took this bottle with him from vacation. A very pleasant surprise this wine!
Not a typical mainstream wine. A bit strange but I like it!
My tasting notes:
In the glass a golden yellow color with little green reflections.
On the nose intense aromas of flowers, pine trees and ripe apricots with notes of smoke, anise and white peach.
On the palate dry, light waxy with nice freshness and balance showing citrus, honey and almond notes.
