Ciabot Berton is situated in La Morra, in the heart of the Barolo production zone. The roots of the Oberto family go back to the 12th century. In the historical land register of La Morra there is an entry on Obertus, a name of Germanic origin. The winery in La Morra has been owned by the Oberto family since 1876. Luigi Oberto set up the business in the early sixties and celebrated his first great successes. Since the beginning of the 90s, his children Marco and Paola manage this small fine winery. Altogether the Obertos grow wine on approx. 10 ha. The locations are all historic Crus in La Morra and carry famous names such as Roggeri, Capalot, Rocchettivino, Bricco San Biagio and Rive. The name Ciabot Berton is composed of the expression Ciabot, which is used in the Piedmontese dialect for a small house, and Berton, a gentleman who has ignited a considerable fireworks in it. The remains of the old house in the middle of the vineyards of Obertos are still visible.
This Nebbiolo shows a transparent ruby red color with a brick color rim.
On the nose intense aromas of dark cherries, berries, plums and strawberries with hints of flowers, balsamico and dark chocolate.
On the palate dry, full-bodied and well balanced with fine graining tannins and medium acidity. Flavours of berries, flowers and figs. Warm in the mouth and ending with a long light spicy finish.
