UP Ultimate Provence rose 2018 (89 TSW)
Grenache Noir (30%) Cinsault (30%) Syrah (30%) Rolle (10%) This weekend we had our annual summer barbecue from the CVU wine club. The weather gods were extremely favorable to us and this Provence rosé paired great with the tuna steak. You can see the pictures in my stories. There is also a link in my bio.
What do you think about this packaging?
This Ultimate Provence rose is a new and special rosé from the same winemakers as the famous Chateau de Berne. Chateau de Berne is part of the MDCV group. This group owns four Chateaus in the AOP Provence area. All four with only 1 specialty; ROSE. With a total of 300 hectares of wine-growing land, 200 years of experience, unique knowledge about 'blending' the different grape varieties for the most beautiful rosé and investments of a total of 100 million you can hardly ignore the fact that this is a company that has the rosé in its DNA.
The Ultimate Provence vineyard spans 46 hectare around the town of La Garde Freinet, at the northern foot of Notre Dame des Anges chapel. Set in wild countryside and bordered by a vast evergreen oak forest, the vineyard is characterized by shallow soil, laid on a waterproof subsoil sandstone slab. This excellent terroir is nourished with a natural compost of oak leaves and vine stalks.
The grapes are harvested at night to preserve their freshness. This rosé is exclusively available in the Netherlands at @voordeelwijnen
My tasting notes:
In the glass a bright salmon color with light copper reflections.
On the medium nose delicate aromas of strawberries, raspberries and fresh berries with hints of lemon zest and white pepper.
On the palate dry and medium bodied with nice round and rich mouthfeel showing flavours of strawberries, grapefruit and cherry tart. Medium+ acidity with good balance. Medium long finish with light bitterness. Very enjoyable with these summer days in the Netherlands.
