Champagne Moussé Fils - Terre d'illite 2011 (87 tsomw points)
In the glass a green golden color. The mousse is very thin and persistent.
On the nose aromas of yellow plums, apricot and light buttery hints.
On the palate balanced and round, dry, medium-bodied with apple, pear and tropical fruit with buttered brioche. It ends with a long persistence finish.
Champagne from one especially good year that highlights the character of that particular harvest.
During the vintage 2011 we have had a spring and a summer warm and dry. The harvest 2011 was the earlier in the history of the estate. It began August 26th.
The blend is 5% Pinot Noir and 95% Meunier.
Dosage : Extra - Brut, 5 g/l.
Soil : Clay 0/20cm, clay and sand 20/60cm, illite 60/80cm (green clay), Marne clay + 80cm (dry limestone powder).
Our valley is perpendicular to the vallée de la Marne, recognized for its lands veined with green clay.
50 months ageing in our cellars
Fine bubbles, a persistent mousse and aromas of distilled plums and mirabelles are the hallmarks of this champagne. Very round in the mouth with suggestions of buttered brioche and the distinct notes of aged champagne, all brought to a conclusion in a long, sustained finish. A champagne at the peak of its maturity.
A champagne to savour in good company just for the pleasure of it.
