Capezzana - Trebbiano - I.G.T. 2019 (90 TSW)
Spring is coming and this wine is like sunshine in a glass. I heard this Trebbiano is perfect for aging but unfortunately I couldn't wait that long :)
Capezzana no longer needs an introduction. Located in The Carmignano DOC (since 1969) was the first DOC in Italy. The area is located just west of Firenze (Florence) - Prato. The soil composition is clay with lime and slate. The vineyards are situated East South - South / West at an altitude of around 200 meters.
A new and pioneering addition, the Trebbiano I.G.T. was produced for the first time in the year 2000 with the aim of reintroducing this variety into modern winemaking. A quality wine is obtained through exacting methods such as a selection massale, short pruning, a strict vendemmia verde and a late harvest. Aged in French tonneaux for 5 months, the wine acquires elegant secondary aromas and a structure suitable for ageing.
My tasting notes:
In the glass a bright golden yellow color with greenish reflections.
On the medium nose aromas of lemonpeel, mandarin and yellow apple with hints of herbs, acacia, almonds and light buttter and vanilla.
On the palate dry, medium bodied with medium(+) acidity and nice freshness. Flavours are a recall of the nose, nicely balanced and with a medium(+) length finish
Top pair with white meats and shellfish.
